为了帮助用户识别哪些新PC机可支持新一代操作系统Windows Vista，微软日前启动"Windows Vista ready"计划。和前几代OS不同，这一次微软是比较认真地在完成"本质意义上"进化的系统，凡是支持Windows Vista系统的PC机，便可贴上微软提供的"Windows Vista ready"标签。根据微软提供的标准，要支持Vista，系统内存至少要在512兆以上；显卡要支持DirectX 9c和WDDM。但需要注意的是，即使贴上了"Windows Vista ready"标签，有些PC仍不能运行所有版本的Vista系统。微软早已经公布了Vista分为六个版本。其中Windows Vista家庭基础版不包含其他版本所具备的高级图形功能。而支持家庭基础版的PC仍被将贴上"Windows Vista ready"标签。
微软的开发组在未来几个月内将提供运行Vista系统的所需的全套PC配置标准。从下个月起，微软将实施"Windows Vista ready"标签计划。
