Intel 德国公司董事总经理 HannesSchwaderer 近日在一次活动上确认，未来将会出现一款采用 Intel Atom 处理器的 iPhone 。自 Intel 推出 Atom 以来，就一直有传闻称 Apple 将在 iPhone 中采用这一处理器。但问题在于，当前版本的 Atom 并不适用于类似于 iPhone 的多媒体手机。原因很简单，Atom 的发热量相对较大，难以封装在一款只有 iPhone 大小的设备之中。
有报道称，基于Atom的 iPhone 体积较大，将采用 Intel 开发的移动互联网设备参考设计。 Intel 公布的参考设计只是采用下一代 Atom 处理器的移动互联网设备的可能模型，而不是真正的产品蓝图。考虑到代号为"Moorestown"的下一代 Atom 处理器要到 2009 年或 2010 年发布， Apple 转向这款 Intel 产品完全有可能。 Apple 可能已经在开发基于 Atom 的便携设备，但目前还无法确定。
截至目前， Apple 还未就此发表评论。
