Windows Live Book Search 于今天正式发布了，与其姐妹站点 Windows Live Publishing Portal 可以搭配使用，用于书籍和出版物的搜索和下载。主要的一些特点包括搜索结果条目中可以包含预览部分，书籍内容的检索以及可以下载一部分书籍的 PDF 文档供离线查阅。
与 Google 的同类服务不同，微软的这一款服务有一个限定的搜索数据库，包括一些公众图书馆和校园图书馆，以及一些其他版权自由的书籍。看得出来，微软在极力避免 Google 曾经所遇到的问题，目前以及正式合作的院校图书馆包括：
- Cornell University
- The American Museum of Veterinary Medicine
- The British Library
- The New York Public Library
- The University of California
- The University of Toronto
