It has been reported that at least one non-Chinese employee working for Apple was held responsible for beating up customers waiting in queue to buy iPad 2 in Beijing. Almost all Chinese social media websites are buzzing with photos and videos related to this incident.
Although iPad 2 was released in other parts of the world couple of months ago, it became legally available in China from 6th May. Many online websites like Weibo.com, Macx.cn are flooded with pictures of annoyed, bruised and battered customers who were waiting outside Apple's Sanlitum store in Beijing.
According to the reports, someone purposely tried to break into the line much to the already-waiting customers dislike. When the security guards lunged into action to calm them, a foreigner called 'John' used a 1.9 meters rod to hit one of the customers. This led to melee and now there are around 4 wounded people getting treated in Chaoyang hospital.
Apple has not yet commented on the incident but the Chinese public have mixed views on it. Some say it's all Apple's fault while others are doubting the rationality of the waiting customers.
